Message Notes:

Prayer and fasting are like a “Till Failure” set for your soul. They push you past comfort, past self-reliance, to the point where you rely fully on God’s strength.

Big Idea:

is talking to God and learning how to listen. It isn’t a way of getting God to do what we want, or a way to impress God.

Prayer

[1 Thessalonians 5:17]

“Pray without ceasing.”

is choosing to go without something, usually food. It’s a mindful decision to pursue intimacy with God through sacrifice.

Fasting

[Psalm 63:1]

“My soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”

“Prayer and Fasting allow us the opportunity to reflect on our circumstances and needs in light of who God is.”

[1 John 4:19]

“We love because He first loved us.”

“You’re not making a call, God’s already on the line, just pick it up.”

“Fasting starves the things that are starving us.”

[Psalm 37:4]

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

[Philippians 2:13]

“God is already working in you—giving you both the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.”

“Fasting and prayer don’t make God love you more—they make you love Him more.”

“Your job isn’t to impress Him, It’s to press into Him”

“You don’t train because you’re already strong—you train because you’re not, and you know you need Him.”
